The Most Notable Aspect of the Infamous “Golden Shower” Dossier

By Persephone

And no, the most notable aspect wasn’t actually the “golden shower.”  The sexual stuff in there was weird, but the idea that Donald Trump dabbles in unusual urinary acts with Russian prostitutes isn’t actually that farfetched.  Or illegal.  Plus, I don’t really care if that part’s true or not.

If you hadn’t noticed, I read the Christopher Steele (a former British operative’s pseudonym) dossier.  Finally.  Hey, I’ve been busy!  Besides, I really didn’t want to read about Trump’s sexual practices.  Or think about them.  In any way.

As it so happens, though, the sex stuff is only a minor point in the dossier.  Mostly; it details Russian influence over the election and how they did it.  Primarily this was conducted via internet trolling on a massive skill, but there were many mentions of direct contacts between the Kremlin and Trump’s election staff directly.  It’s riveting stuff.   I have no idea if any of this is true, but the constant paranoid denials we keep receiving from the white house isn’t exactly reassuring, is it?  If you’re interested, you can read the full document here.

If the golden shower isn’t the interesting bit, then what was it, you ask?  Well, it was Russia’s reaction to the campaign as the months went by.  Initially, Russia started strategically supporting Trump as a reaction to Hillary Clinton.  It turns out that Putin felt both “fear and hatred of Hillary Clinton.”  Not only would she be a woman in power, but he was terrified of dealing with another American president he couldn’t control.  With Trump, he had an individual who had laundered money for Russia for a good eight years (according to the document).  Plus, there were all those lude sex acts that Putin could use as blackmail to get what he wanted if Trump were president.

So, yeah, it makes sense that Russia would back Trump when the campaign started.  President Cheeto is so dense and easily swayed to their line of reasoning that he would make the ideal puppet.  However, as time grew closer to the presidential election, the tone of the dossier changed.  Eventually, the Kremlin started freaking out.  Seriously freaking out.  They began hoping he’d drop out of the race as “[b]uyer’s remorse sets in with Kremlin.”  They started distancing themselves from the entire operation.  The Russians might have wanted an “anti-establishment” candidate who’d divide up the country, but even they concluded he was too much of a loose cannon.  He’d cause more harm for them than good.

Whoopsie.

I guess this is where we are.  Both the U.S. and Russia somehow chose this man–Old Fish Face–as the American President.  And both regret that decision bitterly.

As we should.
